Electrical Estimating Services
Electrical estimating services is a process of determining the cost of electricity required for a construction project. The method of analyzing the cost of various materials and labor is called estimating. The professional and skilled estimator is responsible for performing electrical estimating. The work of electrical estimating requires a high level of accuracy and skills.
The estimate forms the basis of how an electrical project will proceed. Producing accurate electrical estimating is not an easy task. Many variables go into the project making it a huge task. The methodology you use plays an important role in how accurately you estimate your construction project.
Below are the methods used by electrical estimators. Each method comes with its pros and cons.
Per Point Technique
The per-point technique in electrical estimating services means that each fixture in an electrical project is counted and named as a point to give a cost value. The fixture can be a PowerPoint, sensor, etc. For example: if a project contains 100 points and each point is given a value of 100 dollars then the total estimated value would be 100,000 dollars.
The pro of this method is that it is easy and quick but it creates possibilities for inaccurate estimates. The major con of this technique is analyzing labor for each point. If you assign the same points for each fixture it means it includes the same labor cost for each worker assigned to those points. But labor costs can vary as each point can require different types of work some sockets can require more cables, and some can require digging through the concrete.
Labor is the common pitfall of this technique and can easily make your project go over budget.
Labor Unit Technique
The labor unit method assigns a unit value to each human laborer working for the installation of each piece of hardware. The labor units are usually calculated using the shop’s average labor rates. The labor unit technique can be more accurate than the pre-point technique as it calculates more reasonable and accurate labor estimates.
The pitfall of the labor unit technique is that people sometimes forget about the labor burden costs. These costs are not directly associated with the workspace. It includes sick leaves, holidays, taxes, and insurance.
RESIDENTIAL ELECTRICAL ESTIMATING
If you are an electrician or electrical contractor involved in residential projects, we can help you with the electrical estimates that can be employed for procurement and bidding purposes.
Our team is hands-on with providing residential electrical estimating services ranging from improvements, additions to new homes, apartments, Eco-homes, smart homes, etc.
For the electric house wiring estimate, we takeoff all the components including power transmission lines, a service panel, subpanels, an electric meter, electrical boxes, receptacles, household wiring, switches, and other appliances, lights, and equipment, etc.
We have the ability to estimate all the electrical systems involved in the residential buildings

Pre Build Technique
It is also known as the assembly electrical estimating services technique. It is a simple way to count takeoffs. It creates a unit price for each element required for the construction project. Many parts in electrical construction require multiple elements. For example, power sockets include cables, power points, and mounting brackets. It can be considered as one unit cost.
When using the pre-build technique, you might need to add the materials and labor required to complete the construction project. The pre-build technique has the same inaccuracies as the per-point method. A common mistake in this technique is inaccurate labor calculations and cost of travel. This technique is known to be the more complex version of the pre-point technique.
Guesstimate Technique
The guesstimate technique is most prone to errors and is not mostly used these days for electrical estimating services. The guesstimating technique can be defined as if a contractor just goes through the drawings of the project and gives a rough sketch of the cost that will be required to complete the project.
It is often based on gut feelings rather than a thorough analysis of the project to determine the estimates. It can create highly inaccurate estimates and can lead to under-budgeting or over-budgeting the project. Someone who is highly experienced can use the guesstimate technique to create accurate estimates. However, it is not the best method for someone less than an expert as it is open to errors.

Design And Construct Technique
In the construction and design technique, the contractor is involved in designing and implementation of the construction project. The customer usually provides the brief design of the project and the contractor is responsible for a more detailed design for the project before starting the construction estimates.
It is a complex method as it requires you to work within the budget of the client and provide accurate estimates from the design to the construction of the project.
The drawback of this technique is complexity as it can open errors at any stage of the project.
